Christmas

My goodness I am falling behind in my blogs:)

Well Christmas is over...it flew right by us. Charlie had a very good Christmas and got alot of nice presents. He has no idea what they were but that's okay.

Christmas eve we went to 4:30 pm church at Corpus Christi. It is the children's mass and we go there every year because it's a cute mass. Charlie was so good during mass. He was tired, but just stayed awake looking at everyone and everything. During the homily, the priest invites all the children to the front to sit down and he asks them questions. My dad leans into me and says, "Are you going to take Charlie up to the front?" I laughed and said no as Charlie is only 4 1/2 months old. My dad says, "I'll take him up". So...my dad (Charlie's best friend) takes him up and sits with him. So cute and funny. We then went back to my parents house to eat dinner and open presents. Charlie was more into eating the wrapping paper then his presents. Highlights of his presents were a book (The Night Before Christmas) read by my dad (you record your voice) and an ornament of big bird with Charlie's name on it (from Aunt Lizzu and Uncle Chris). Then we went home and little Charlie went to bed at 9pm (2 hours past his bedtime).

On Christmas morning we woke up around 5:00 am to eat, then went back down til almost 9 am. Charlie woke up smiling and cooing away. Tim came over in the morning to give Charlie his presents and stayed til about noon. Tim bought him the cutest snow boots ever. He also got him some really cute books, toys and clothing. My parents and the Scharkozys (my sister and her husband) came over around 1:30. We had snacks, drank wine and played Wii. I cooked a nice dinner for everyone and we pretty much stuffed our faces. We went to bed that night very sleepy and full!

Charlie was so good during all of the festivities. He is just such a funny, happy baby. He smiles, yells, coos and laughs. He is so much fun to be around. Even when he is grumpy or crying...there is something so cute and funny about it. My sister, her husband and I were talking about Charlie's boo-boo face (when he sticks his lower lip out)...its so freaking funny and cute.

Here are some final points to sum up the holiday:

1. It's funny how many presents Charlie received and that he has no idea what any of them are as he would rather eat the paper they came in.

2. I bought myself a GPS because I wanted to.

3. I can't stop dressing my child up in ridiculous outfits.

4. This was one of hte best Christmases I've ever had.

5. Charlie makes everyone happy...what an amazing gift from God. His mere presence lights up a room.

4 months

My Charlie is growing up so fast. He was four months on Tuesday. He is doing so well! He has been rolling onto his side for quite a while now. He also rolled from his stomach to his back 3 times. I kind of coaxed him though so I dont know if it's a fair "milestone". Hehe. His favorite way to sleep at night is on his side with his thumb in his mouth. Speaking of sleeping...he is a champ. He is still a catnapper during the day...sleeping 30 minutes about 3-4 times a day. During the nighttime though..he sleeps about 9-10 hours, wakes up to eat and then goes back down for about 2 hours. I bring him into my bed to eat in the morning and then we sleep and snuggle. He is so sweet. He is cooing away and is very nosy during other people's conversations. He likes to be heard! He is reaching out and grabbing things and he loves to touch faces now. He has been putting weight on his legs since he was about 2 months old and still loves to stand up while you hold him. He can sit up with support but will fall down if you let him go. He does well with tummy time and looks so freaking cute looking up at you with his big blue eyes. He just props himself up on his elbows, coos and farts. For some reason when he is on his belly...he farts away. (I'm sure he will be happy that I added that part.) Ooh..i almost forgot the bathtime. He is so funny in the bath now. For the last week or so, he started kicking his face off in the bathtub. He splashes like a crazy person. By the end of his bath...I think I am just as wet as he is:) I put at bath pic on here..I think I kept his dignity with this one:)

We had his doctor's appointment today. He weighed 13 lb 6 oz and was 25 inches long. He was a little bit under the 25% for weight...which of course worried me because I'm paranoid. The Doctor said it was nothing to worry about as he was still in that growth curve. She also told us that we could start with rice cereal and then food now. I'm so excited!! I think I may start either tonight or tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. He had to get 4 shots....sucked. He's sleeping it off now:)

We picked out our Christmas tree and decorated it. He was so funny staring at the tree and the lights. He was yelling at the tinsel...ma bye he doesn't like it. I guess not many people do like tinsel. I love it! The tree looks great. We took pictures with Santa and took his Christmas pictures. I am so "that mom"...funny.

I go back to work on January 15th. A few people that went back earlier then 6 months had said that they were "itching" to go back. Um..I'm not at all. I really don't have a desire to go back. I know that I have to due to financial obligations, but I really would rather be with him. Part time work would be ideal. Maybe with my next child with my rich husband. haha.

All in all things are going really well. I'm happy, Charlie's happy, family's great and friends are well. A girl can't ask for much more then that!!

Thanksgiving

I forgot to blog about Thanksgiving. I'll make it brief. It was a great time. Charlie got to hang out with his second cousins Luke and Olivia. Olivia was so great with him...she kept his interest by playing with him. The food was fantastic as was the wine. I had two bottles so I drank it up! Too bad I had to pump and dump when I got home:(

Emotionally it wasnt as hard as I had thought. I stood in the place where Tim proposed to me. I was holding Charlie and just thought that I was so happy that Tim and I had married. Again, without that occurring I woudl have never had Charlie. Charlie just looked at me with his big toothless grin and drooled. Fantastic...

Funny how sleep deprivation makes you a drama queen

So...Charlie slept like crap for two nights in a row. It sucked. He slept great last night and now I look back at it and think, "It wasn't that bad". Yes it was...during those two nights. In fact, I cried a little last night with anticipation that it woudl be bad again. Sleep deprivation really affects me. Waking up to a baby crying in the middle of the dark, quiet night is really freaky. After a few tries of soothing him with no avail...I give in and bring him into my bed. I feed him every few hours and then he still wants to get up at 6:00 am. All of this really does a mind trick on you... However, when you sleep well at night these things don't seem as crazy.
To sum up this jumbled blog post....I need sleep, I crave sleep, I love sleep. Without it...I become an irrational, crying weirdo.
One more point...nothing lasts forever. I need to remind myself of this at 2:00 am when Charlie is crying his eyes out. It is a fluke...just a one/two night kind of thing. Chill Katie....Chill...
